Tea Making Experience
Why don't you try making your own black tea using tea leaves nurtured by the nature of Tsushima? The tea you make will be a memory of your trip.
About this activity
Enjoy a wonderful moment with your own original black tea!
Black tea is a popular beverage not only in Japan but around the world. Many people have drunk black tea, but few have actually seen it being made, much less actually made it. You can experience such a valuable black tea making process in Tsushima.
The taste of black tea varies depending on the maker. Let’s make your own original black tea using tea leaves grown in the great nature of Tsushima (without pesticides, of course)!
About the experience
During the tea making experience, the following things will be done.
(1) Brief explanation of black tea
First, we will give you a brief explanation of black tea. Black tea is a lot more complicated than you might think.
2) Rubbing tea leaves
Next, tea leaves that have been picked and prepared in advance are hand-rubbed. This process is called “Jyunen” (rubbing). The purpose of this process is to promote the fermentation of the tea leaves.
The degree of force applied at this time makes a difference in the final taste of the tea. Not too strong, not too weak. The taste of tea is delicate.
(3) Making the original package
We make an original package. Please look forward to receiving your tea packed in the package you made later at home!
What to bring and what to wear.
All the necessary tools for the experience will be provided by the hostel. There is nothing in particular that you need to bring.
There is no need to worry about getting your clothes dirty during the experience. However, if you are concerned about it, please wear clothes that you do not mind getting dirty.
