You can enjoy fishing using fishing rod at coast. You can catch a variety of fish according to season such as Aji (Horse Mackerel), Kisu (Japanese Whiting), Kasago (Marbled Rockfish) and so son. Let’s go fishing for your dinner!
We will go off-shore with small boat with outboard engine, and enjoy fishing at bay where sea is more calm. According to seasons, you can catch fishes like Madai (Sea Bream), Karei (Flounder), Kasago (Rockfish), Aji (Horse Mackerel), and so on.
We take full-fledged fishing boat and go out to sea. You can experience line-fishing to catch Madai (Sea Bream), Hiramasa (Goldstripped Amberjack) etc., and also net fishing to catch Buri (Japanese Amberjack), Katsuo (Bonito), Saba (Mackerel), and more. Watch the work of fishermen!
You will learn how to make local cuisine from host mum at the house you will stay. Local cuisines are ranging from traditionally common ones such as “Iriyaki”, “Rokubeh” to challenging one such as “Tosanzouni”.
Tsutsu region, the most southern part of Tsushima, has very vigorous fruits cultivation thanks to its warm climate and moderate sea breeze. Not only deciduous trees such as fig and kiwi, but also various citrus fruits are cultivated. Especially, Tsutsuhira-mikan harvested in December is very fragrant and delicious.
"Kankoro-mochi" - rice cake made of dried potato and sticky rice mixed, "Botamochi" - rice cake using sesame and Azuki beans, etc., Let's make simple traditional sweets/snack.
Ferment sweet popato, extract starch, it is traditional preserved food "Sendango". It takes thousand hustles: this could be the origin of its name. Let's learn the traditional wisdom of food preservation.
Many Tsushima people have farm field, and grow a variety of crops for themselves. They so happy that they can eat fresh vegetable anytime. Now, let's go to the field to get food for dinner!
Only in Tsushima in Japan, there is no western bees, and only Japanese bees. Since olden time, we make unique hive box out of log, and farm bees. Enjoy the seasonal flowers' condensed Japanese honey.
