Fishing Experience (on small boat)

We will go off-shore with small boat with outboard engine, and enjoy fishing at bay where sea is more calm. According to seasons, you can catch fishes like Madai (Sea Bream), Karei (Flounder), Kasago (Rockfish), Aji (Horse Mackerel), and so on.

About this activity

You can aim big fish even if you are beginner!

Good thing about Tsushima is that there are many household that have small fishing boat with outboard engine. Using their boat, Tsushima people catch fish all year around like Madai (Sea Bream), Saba (Mackerel), Sazae (Turban shell), Awabi (Abalone), Hijiki seaweek, Wakame seaweed, and more.

In Tsushima, there are good fishing spots by going bit off-shore. Your host-father will gently teach you, so any beginners can enjoy fishing!

A variety of fish according to seasons

  • Aji (Horse Mackerel): mid April – November. Best is June – October.
  • Kisu (Japanese Whiting): end July – August
  • Saba (Mackerel): August – October
  • Kasago/Arakabu (Rockfish): All year
  • Aoriika/Mizuika (Broad Squid): May – June, October

Other than these, you can catch various fish according to seasons.

We lend you all equipment

We lend you all necessary equipment for fishing for free such as fishing rod, tricks, bucket, etc. Of course, you can bring your own fishing rod. Beit may cost (about ¥500)

Please bring the following with you

  • Cloths that you don’t mind getting dirty
  • Comfortable shoes for sports (sneakers are good enough)
  • Hat
  • Snowsuits (Windcheater etc.)

We can lend raincoat and high-boots, but extra large and small sizes may be not available. So please bring yours with you if necessary. We can pack your fish in a Styrofoam box and send by post to your home. In that case, we will charge the Styrofoam box and shipping fee. You may bring your own cold box.
